Colonel Bryan Martin graduated the United States Military Academy in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Military History, commissioning as an infantry officer prior to qualifying for Special Forces in 2005.
He previously commanded the United States Army Garrison- Natick Soldier Systems Center; Fourth Battalion, Seventh Special Forces Group (Airborne)(Provisional); Bravo Company, 4th Bn, 7th SFG(A); and Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha 751.
His staff assignments include: Deputy Operations Officer, Special Operations Command-Europe (SOCEUR); Future Operations Officer, SOCEUR; USPACOM/USEUCOM Operations Officer, Deputy Directorate for Special Operations and Counterterrorism, The Joint Staff; Battalion Executive Officer, 4th Bn, 7th SFG(A); Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan Liaison to ISAF-HQ and Assistant Operations Officer; Aide-De-Camp to the Commanding General, United States Army Special Forces Command (Airborne); and Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, 2nd Bn, 7th SFG(A).
He deployed to Kosovo/ Macedonia as an infantry platoon leader, Iraq as a rifle company executive officer and ODA commander, and Afghanistan as an assistant operations/ liaison officer and Advanced Operating Base commander.
He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School with a Masters of Science in Defense Analysis, and the Army War College with a Masters in Strategic Studies. His military schooling includes the Special Forces Combat Diver Qualification Course, Infantry Officers Basic Course, Airborne School, Ranger School, Air Assault School, Infantry Captains Career Course, Special Forces Qualification Course, Jumpmaster, and Navy War College-Monterey. He earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist, and British, Spanish, and Korean Airborne wings.
Bryan is married to his high school physics partner Shana, and they have three children.
